URLEdit

Redirected from Uniform Resource Locator

A URL is a Uniform Resource Locator. "Officially", the term URI is recommended for most web applications because it is a "generic term best suited to the concept", but in reality URL is used almost exclusively among users of the web, partly because the term has been in use for longer than URI and partly because for all practical purposes almost all URIs on the web are URLs (a URL is a specific class of URI; the other is a URN).
