Open in Horizontal Split Crashes vim on Ubuntu Server

I'm using the latest version of Command-T from the repository with a recently compiled vim (not the stock vim). Command-T was compiled with the system Ruby (1.8.7). Everything's running on Ubuntu Server 12.04 running in a VM.

Everything works, even <C-V> to open in a vertical split, but <C-S> repeatably makes vim completely unresponsive.
