Backspace key not working? Or am I not understanding what it's supposed to do?

    The backspace key does not work as usual - it will not delete the characters, but the cursor will move to the left. Can this behavior be changed so that it will act in the standard manner?

    Generally, the cause is an incompatibility with your terminal settings, and the solution is to either set up a different mapping that does work in your terminal, or otherwise change the settings to make the mapping work.
